Job summary

Charters Village Management Ltd in East Grinstead is seeking an Estates Operative to maintain village buildings, grounds and outdoor spaces. You will perform planned and reactive maintenance, assist with safety checks and support residents and colleagues with a friendly, proactive approach.

Qualifications

• Experience in practical maintenance, gardening, landscaping or estates work.
• Good practical skills with grounds and maintenance equipment.
• Understanding of health and safety and COSHH is advantageous.
• Proactive, hands-on approach with issue-resolution ability.
• Reliable with ability to manage a varied workload.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across village buildings and grounds.
• Support with repairs, report faults promptly and maintain safety checks.
• Perform health and safety, compliance and alarm-system checks.
• Maintain village grounds: mowing, hedging, planting, pruning, weeds, watering.
• Handle chemical storage per COSHH and health and safety rules.
• Respond to emergencies during on-call rota and provide first aid where needed.
• Keep accurate records and coordinate with colleagues to maintain high standards.
