Job summary

The Carnegie Club at Skibo Castle seeks a hands-on Head of Property & Maintenance to lead day-to-day operations, oversee refurbishment and capital projects, and drive continuous improvement across our estate. You will manage a skilled team, coordinate contractors and ensure compliance, safety and sustainable asset care.

We value proactive leadership, forward planning and strong collaboration with departments to minimise disruption for members and guests.

Qualifications

• Strong practical and technical understanding of trades involved in maintaining buildings.
• Experience leading a busy maintenance operation, with planned and responsive works.
• Senior property management experience with construction sector knowledge and regulatory understanding.
• Experience planning refurbishment, property improvement and major maintenance/capital projects.
• Ability to plan ahead, prioritise work and manage competing requirements.
• Experience managing budgets and monitoring costs.
• Confidence working with contractors, consultants and suppliers to ensure standards.
• Understanding of statutory compliance, Health & Safety and building management requirements.
• Experience developing planned preventative maintenance programmes and inspections.
• Understanding energy efficiency and sustainability in long-term asset management.
• Strong organisational skills and accurate records management.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day Property & Maintenance operations across the estate.
• Ensure safe, efficient maintenance and high standards club-wide.
• Develop and support the team with planning, problem-solving and improvement.
• Plan workloads balancing reactive and planned maintenance and large projects.
• Identify future maintenance and renewal needs for the estate.
• Oversee refurbishment and major projects from planning to completion.
• Coordinate internal teams, contractors and suppliers to maintain quality.
• Maintain property-related compliance, safety inspections and records.
• Manage the Property & Maintenance budget and supplier relationships.
• Maintain visibility across the estate and support other departments.
