Job summary

Langdale Leisure Ltd. is seeking a Grounds Team Member to maintain the hotel grounds at Langdale Hotel and Spa in Ambleside. The role requires 39 hours per week, full-time, on-site work with live-in accommodation possible for exceptional candidates.

You will perform grass cutting, hedge trimming, turf care, and operate a range of grounds machinery while adhering to COSHH and health & safety policies. A strong team player with reliable attendance is essential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or horticulture preferred.
• Ability to operate grounds maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
• Basic knowledge of turf management practices.
• Understanding of UK health & safety procedures, including risk assessments and COSHH.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work to deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Undertake routine grounds maintenance including grass cutting, strimming, edging, and hedge trimming.
• Maintain estate and amenity areas, including off site where required.
• Perform turf care activities such as aeration, scarification, seeding, and topdressing.
• Operate and maintain a variety of machinery and tools (e.g. mowers, strimmer’s, blowers).
• Apply fertilisers, herbicides, and pesticides in accordance with COSHH regulations and safe systems of work.
• Carry out litter picking, leaf clearance, and general site tidiness.
• Assist with the maintenance of hard landscaping (paths, fencing, signage, and fixtures).
• Support seasonal operations such as gritting and snow clearance.
• Conduct daily equipment checks and report faults or maintenance requirements.
• Follow risk assessments and comply with all health & safety policies.
• Work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
