Job summary

Service Care Solutions are recruiting a Caretaker on behalf of a local authority to maintain communal areas across housing estates, ensuring sites are clean, tidy, safe and well maintained.

The role involves acting as a visible contact for residents, reporting issues and working with housing, asset management and building safety teams to support safe estates. 37 hours per week, temporary contract, with pay between £14.67 and £18.53 per hour depending on PAYE or umbrella arrangements.

Qualifications

• Experience as Caretaker, Estate Services, Housing, Facilities, Cleaning or similar role.
• Experience in communal areas, housing estates or public buildings is beneficial.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to identify and report repairs, health and safety issues and estate management concerns.
• Comfortable working independently while also being part of a wider team.
• Reliable, practical and able to deal professionally with residents and visitors.
• Understanding of health and safety requirements within a site-based environment.

Responsibilities

• Keep communal areas, laundries, bin stores, parking areas and amenity spaces clean, tidy and safe.
• Carry out general caretaking duties including litter picking, bin management and moving bulky waste to designated collection points.
• Act as a visible and approachable contact for residents and visitors, dealing with queries where possible and referring issues to the relevant team.
• Report repairs, health and safety concerns, anti-social behaviour, nuisance, abandoned vehicles and other estate management issues.
• Assist with building safety checks, including identifying and reporting defects with fire doors and other communal areas.
• Support waste management activities and ensure communal areas are maintained to the required standards.
• Work closely with Housing Officers, Site Coordinators, Asset Management and Building Safety teams.
• Identify areas for improvement and raise caretaking or site management concerns with the relevant team.
• Maintain high standards of health and safety and comply with council policies and procedures.
