Job summary

Essex County Council’s Adult Community Learning (ACL) is seeking a Part Time Vocational Trainer - ESOL to deliver engaging ESOL teaching to adult learners in Colchester. The role supports skill development, confidence, and progression toward employment and education.

The position is 18.5 hours per week on a fractional contract, with sessions mainly 9.30am–2.30pm, Monday to Friday. Start ASAP is preferred, with potential evening/online teaching and occasional travel between ACL locations.

Qualifications

• ESOL-specific qualification such as CELTA, DELTA, Level 5 TESOL, or a relevant degree.
• Experience delivering ESOL learning to adult learners.
• Experience of teaching, training, coaching, or supporting learners.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment within ESOL programmes, both face-to-face and online.
• Motivate and inspire learners to achieve their goals and progress in their learning.
• Plan and deliver effective learning programmes for diverse groups of adult learners within a safe and inclusive environment.
• Promote the benefits of technology and support learners to develop their digital confidence and skills.
• Use initial, diagnostic, and formative assessment methods to identify starting points, monitor progress, and provide constructive and timely feedback.
• Set challenging targets and learning objectives that support learner achievement and progression.
• Support learners to develop personal, social and employability skills that enable progression into further learning and employment.
• Maintain accurate learner attendance, progress and achievement records using ACL systems.
