Job summary

Essex County Council ACL is seeking a Part Time Vocational Trainer - ESOL to deliver high-quality ESOL teaching and assessment to adult learners at Basildon. The role is fractional, offering 18.5 hours per week, with sessions running 9:30am–2:30pm, Monday to Friday, and potential evenings/online teaching.

Travel to other ACL locations may be required. The successful candidate will support learners to develop English language skills, confidence and employability, with delivery focused on

Qualifications

• An ESOL-specific qualification such as CELTA, DELTA, Level 5 TESOL, or a relevant degree.
• Experience delivering ESOL to adult learners.
• Experience of teaching, training, coaching or supporting learners.
• Good digital and ICT skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment within ESOL programmes, both face-to-face and online.
• Motivate and inspire learners to achieve their goals and progress in their learning.
• Plan and deliver effective learning programmes for diverse groups of adult learners within a safe and inclusive environment.
• Promote the benefits of technology and support learners to develop their digital confidence and skills.
• Use initial, diagnostic, and formative assessment methods to identify starting points, monitor progress, and provide constructive and timely feedback.
• Set challenging targets and learning objectives that support learner achievement and progression.
• Support learners to develop personal, social and employability skills that enable progression into further learning and employment.
• Maintain accurate learner attendance, progress and achievement records using ACL systems.
