The Role

As a principal quantitative analyst, you will combine investment management and technical expertise to deliver results for the Asset Manager, Asset Owner, and Plc. The ESG Quantitative Analyst will integrate data science and sustainability to assess environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance, contributing to sustainability decisions, risk management, and compliance, working closely with investment teams across various markets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement state-of-the-art data science and ESG methods to develop proprietary ESG assessment frameworks, perform calculations, and ensure best practices in software development.
  • Support and develop in-house tools, enhancing capabilities and creating APIs for ESG data access.
  • Conduct proprietary sustainability analyses for asset management, asset owners, Plc, or client requests.
  • Develop innovative tools utilizing natural language processing and AI.
  • Ensure data cohesion across M&G Group sustainability datasets for Plc and Asset Owner entities.
  • Support the broader Stewardship & Sustainability data analytics initiatives.
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or Physics from a leading university.
  • Extensive programming experience, preferably in Python, with full-stack development skills (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Angular).
  • Knowledge of database technologies such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Oracle, or MS SQL Server.
  • Several years of applying analytics and quantitative methods to support investment strategies and develop solutions.
  • Deep understanding of quantitative techniques, statistics, and econometrics; experience with NLP or AI is a plus.
  • Proven experience in developing data analytics tools.
  • Ability to support research and innovation in models and products for competitive advantage.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a high standard of integrity and work ethic.
