Job summary

S&P Global Dow Jones Indices is seeking an ESG Data Owner within the Data Enablement team. You will manage ESG datasets used in equity and fixed income indices, ensure data accuracy, and maintain governance, documentation, and lineage across data feeds and operations.

The role collaborates with technology, operations, index management, analytics, and vendors to onboard datasets, define requirements, and monitor data quality. Strong data skills and ESG knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or related field.
• 1–3 years of professional experience in data analysis, data management, ESG data, or related field.
• Foundational understanding of ESG frameworks and sustainability data.
• Foundational understanding of financial markets and indexing concepts.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with large data sets.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL for data analysis and visualization.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage ESG datasets across the data lifecycle for index use.
• Support ESG datasets such as GHG emissions, physical risk, ESG scores, and related data.
• Apply data standards, taxonomies, and governance controls.
• Design, run, and improve data quality checks.
• Investigate and resolve data quality issues with cross-functional teams.
• Define data requirements for new ESG data feeds, including rules and lineage.
• Support onboarding of new ESG datasets into existing systems.
• Maintain documentation of data sources, rules, and lineage.
• Serve as a data clarifications point for internal teams.
• Prepare analysis and recommendations for index managers and stakeholders.
• Coordinate with ESG data vendors on definitions and delivery standards.
• Stay informed on ESG market developments and regulatory themes.
