Job summary

West Midlands Combined Authority is seeking an ERP Systems Partner to bridge business needs and system capability across Technology and Insights, Finance, HR, Procurement and wider services. You will translate requirements into practical solutions, design and deliver them within Business World, and lead a small ERP team to ensure high-quality delivery.

The role demands strong business engagement, technical know-how, and excellence in communication.

Qualifications

  • Experience of system design, delivery, testing and training in system changes
  • Experience of writing procedural documentation for support/testing and training of applications
  • Experience of contributing to the leadership of change and supporting others to overcome difficulties
  • Experience of using and supporting ERP software (preferably Unit4 Business World (Agresso))
  • Strong level of knowledge of ERP systems
  • Strong facilitation, analytical and design skills - problem solver
  • Can prioritise and organise activities and deliver multiple tasks
  • Personable, confident with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently

Responsibilities

  • Lead on the delivery of ERP activities within projects - working with internal officers and external consultants. Ensuring activities are completed in line with key project milestones and strict deadlines. Attending regular project team meetings and communicating effectively with key stakeholders to provide progress updates & providing assurance that change requests or projects are on track and will be delivered within agreed timescales.
  • You will be a key member of the ERP Team identifying and implementing improvements and new functionality.
  • Research best practice, and implementing changes where required, to enable the WMCA practices to remain market aligned and to meet statutory and organisational requirements.
  • Lead and manage ERP team members, helping them to ensure their development needs are met and their potential is realised.
  • Liaise with your designated services areas to understand our customer's needs and identify and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Assist in the professional development of other team members, acting as a mentor when required.
  • Design and support with the installation and configuration of the ERP software as a service (SaaS) system.
  • Document end user and system team processes, and creating user guides, and provide training as required.
  • Take remedial action if issues arise during monthly user acceptance testing activity for hotfixes and updates.
  • Incident resolutionbyidentifyingcauses and finding solutions to system issues.

Job description

We're looking for an ERP Systems Partner who can seamlessly bridge the gap between business needs and system capability. In this role, you won't just support Business World, you'll act as a trusted partner to the organisation, working closely with key stakeholders across Technology and Insights, Finance, HR, Procurement and wider services to understand how they operate daily, what they need to succeed, and how technology can enable that success.

You'll combine strong business engagement skills with hands-on technical expertise, translating requirements into practical solutions, and then designing and delivering those solutions within Business World. Just as importantly, you'll lead and develop a small team, setting direction, building capability, and ensuring high-quality delivery across all areas of work.

Location.

The location for this role is 16 Summer Lane, Birmingham, B19 3SD with at least 2 days a week spent in the office.
