Job summary

Liberty Recruitment Group are delighted to be working exclusively with a fantastic values-led organisation in Portsmouth to recruit an experienced ER Specialist on a fixed term contract until August 2027.

You’ll provide expert advice to managers on disciplinary, grievance, absence, performance and capability matters, manage complex ER cases from start to resolution, and coach leaders to apply fair, compliant processes. Hybrid working available two days per week.

Qualifications

• Experience in Employee Relations with complex and sensitive cases.
• Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice.
• Coaching and influencing managers with a calm, pragmatic approach.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

Liberty Recruitment Group are delighted to be working exclusively with a fantastic values led organisation based in Portsmouth in the search for an experienced ER Specialist to join their People team on a fixed term contract until August 2027.

You’ll play an important role in ensuring people matters are handled fairly, consistently and in line with employment legislation and organisational policies, while also coaching managers to build their confidence in managing employee issues effectively.

What you’ll do:

• Provide expert advice and guidance to managers on a broad range of ER matters, including disciplinary, grievance, absence, performance and capability.
• Manage complex ER cases from initial advice through to resolution, ensuring a fair, consistent and legally compliant approach.
• Coach and support managers, helping them confidently manage people issues and follow appropriate processes.
• Support organisational change and other people-related projects as required.
• Maintain accurate case records and provide relevant data and insight to support the wider People team.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience working in an Employee Relations or HR role, with strong ER case management experience including complex and sensitive cases.
• Good working knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice.
• Strong coaching and influencing skills, with the confidence to advise and constructively challenge managers.
• A calm, pragmatic and solutions-focused approach.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied caseload and competing priorities.
• CIPD qualification or equivalent HR experience would be desirable.
