Job summary

West Midlands Combined Authority is seeking an ER & Policy Specialist to support day-to-day employee relations casework, provide practical advice to managers, and maintain accurate records. The role also involves policy reviews, embedding HR policies, and offering ER guidance aligned with employment legislation and internal policy.

You will contribute to change management, help prepare template documents, advise on risks, and ensure managers apply policy consistently across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Proven experience advising and supporting informal to complex ER casework across the lifecycle.
• Evidence of providing value-add HR advice to stakeholders across the employee lifecycle.
• Using coaching to develop manager competence in people management.

Responsibilities

• Manage a high volume and wide range of ER cases from informal to formal hearings.
• Support managers with day-to-day ER queries and guidance.
• Keep accurate case records, track actions and outcomes, ensure follow-up.
• Collaborate with People & Culture, Legal Services, and Trade Union reps to coordinate input.
• Assist in drafting, reviewing, and embedding people policies and guidance.
• Support organisational change by preparing docs, advising on process and risks.
