Job summary

Microchip Technology UK is seeking a proactive Maintenance Engineer to join the Caldicot-based operations team. You will perform proactive and reactive maintenance on high-value manufacturing and facility equipment, install new systems, and support continuous improvement initiatives in a modern electronics manufacturing environment.

The role requires a hands-on engineer with strong problem-solving skills, capable of interpreting drawings and working unsupervised when needed.

Qualifications

HNC/HND or time-served with relevant qualifications.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role.
Ability to read mechanical drawings and schematics.
Experience with Semiconductor or SMT equipment is desirable.

Responsibilities

Maintenance, troubleshooting and installation of manufacturing and facility equipment.
Writing and scheduling preventive maintenance activities.
Identifying and controlling stock of critical spares and sourcing cost-saving options.
Support Production to ensure schedules and deliveries are met.
Active participation in continual improvement (OEE, energy, safety, equipment).
Mentor and train technicians and apprentices.
Communicate progress with other functions and provide progress updates.
Follow health and safety protocols.
