Job Description

Equipment Data Engineer

Are you confident navigating complex data systems to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and usability of technical equipment information? Are you comfortable collaborating across diverse teams to align data strategies and solve cross-functional data challenges? Are you passionate about using data to support safe, efficient operations and long-term asset reliability in a high-performing environment?

If that sounds like you, then we have a fantastic opportunity to join the Nuclear Island team as an Equipment Data Engineer at Hinkley Point C!

The Opportunity

As the Equipment Data Engineer, you’ll take a pivotal role in shaping how equipment data and information is managed across the Pre-Operations team at Hinkley Point C. Acting as the go-to expert and central point of contact for the wider HPC project, you’ll ensure data flows seamlessly and accurately to support project milestones and long-term operational success. With a firm understanding of Pre-Ops processes and their data requirements, you’ll bridge gaps between technical teams and project functions, keeping everything aligned with the core goals of safety, quality, time, and cost.

In this role, you’ll work closely with CommOps, MEH, Plant Integration, and IT to define and refine the operational equipment data strategy. From shaping guidance documents to maintaining operational data dictionaries, you’ll make sure our information is structured, reliable, and ready to support commissioning and beyond. You’ll also lead efforts to identify and close data-related gaps, driving collaboration between teams to ensure clear, aligned outcomes. This is your opportunity to be at the forefront of data-driven decision-making in one of the most complex infrastructure projects in the world.

Pay, Benefits and Culture

Alongside a salary of £54,280 and a market leading pension scheme, your package will include a range of benefits, from the big and formal to the small and personal.

We’re talking about everything from enhanced parental leave to electric vehicle leasing, health insurance to product discounts, critical illness insurance to technology vouchers, gym membership to season ticket loans.

At EDF UK, we embrace flexibility while recognising that everyone's working needs are different. Whether you're in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely, we promote an environment that supports collaboration, connection, and comfort. No matter where you are, our priority is to make sure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.

Here, we do right by each other and everyone’s welcome. We’re on an action-oriented journey, championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application. Please let us know if you need to request reasonable adjustments.

We take pride in fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our employees drive fresh thinking and innovation. We understand that success means different things to different people. We believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That’s why we support you to pursue a career that’s unique to you. Because success is personal.

What you will be doing.

In this dynamic role, the Equipment Data Engineer will play a key part in ensuring the smooth flow and integrity of equipment data across the Pre-Operations landscape. Reporting to the Work Management Lead, you’ll be at the centre of a wide network of stakeholders, ensuring the accuracy and consistency of data that underpins the safe and efficient operation of Hinkley Point C.

With responsibilities spanning data oversight, stakeholder engagement, and strategic development, this role offers the opportunity to influence one of the most critical aspects of the project’s success. You'll also serve as the Pre-Ops Data Steward, owning the quality of asset data and ensuring alignment across functions. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Accountability to the Work Management Lead in the Pre-Operations Work Management Team
  • Oversight of all equipment data flowing into and out of Pre-Operations, ensuring accuracy and integrity
  • Safeguard the functionality of the station’s asset management system to support safe, efficient operations
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Construction, Commissioning, and Maintenance teams to validate equipment data and ensure seamless handover
  • Engage regularly with wider project teams to align on schedule and data requirements
  • Liaise with CommOps, MEH, Plant Integration, and IT to develop and maintain the Equipment Data Management strategy, processes, and operational data dictionary
  • Drive resolution of data-related gaps and issues across multiple teams
  • Ensure MEH’s data management processes align with operational requirements to enable efficient system handovers
  • Manage and approve the quality of data in AS9 HPC facility
  • Support Data Owners in applying consistent data management procedures
  • Monitor, manage, and raise issues related to data quality
  • Gain comprehensive insight into the full scope of the Pre-Operations organisation and contribute to the delivery of the project to the highest safety, cost, and quality standards

Who you are

To thrive in this role, you’ll bring a strong technical and data-driven background with the confidence to influence and collaborate across multiple teams. You’ll be comfortable working in a regulated environment, using your communication skills to simplify complex information and drive results. With a delivery-focused mindset and a keen eye for detail, you’ll be instrumental in maintaining high data standards and supporting operational excellence.

  • Experience working with key asset management tools such as Asset Suite, alongside data reporting tools and Microsoft applications
  • A background in technical information and data management
  • Proven ability to deliver results through clear accountability and effective stakeholder engagement
