Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to drive RDBMS, Warehousing, and Big Data solutions for our global BookData business. You will be responsible for curating the largest English-language bibliographic metadata and book sales measurement data sets in the world.

This is a remote position based in the UK with occasional travel to central London.

Responsibilities:

  1. Design and develop enterprise database solutions
  2. Optimize data storage and retrieval processes
  3. Troubleshoot performance issues
  4. Implement data privacy and security measures
  5. Participate in cross-functional projects with other developers
  6. Contribute to overall data architecture and standards
  7. Report daily progress and blockers to scrum master

Qualifications

Required skills/experience:

  • 7+ years in a Data Engineering role
  • SQL
  • Data Modelling
  • ETL
  • Oracle RDBMS (Postgres or SQL Server also considered)
  • Data Warehousing Design
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal)
  • Strong analytical skills

Desirable:

  • Microsoft Fabric
  • Power BI / Tabular Editor / ALM Toolkit
  • Spark/Hadoop or other big data solutions
  • Java or Python coding skills
  • Familiarity with the book industry

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
