Job description

At inspiring vet care, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As the UK’s number one vet care provider, we’re trusted with the care of over 2 million animals, delivering our purpose of healthier animals and happier owners.

Our practice is spread across two sites at Baschurch and Wrexham, enabling us to provide 24-hour veterinary care across a wide geographical area. Fyrnwy Equine Group comprises a large specialist equine hospital alongside a comprehensive ambulatory service, delivering exceptional care to horses throughout Shropshire, North Wales and Cheshire.

Practice Highlights

As an RCVS-accredited practice, we are passionate about clinical excellence and delivering a professional, efficient and compassionate service to every patient. Our caseload is incredibly varied, ranging from elite competition and breeding horses to hunters, leisure horses and much-loved family ponies.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll work collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver a high standard of patient and client care across a varied and rewarding caseload.

You’ll continue to develop your clinical skills and interests while sharing your knowledge and experience with colleagues, contributing positively to the clinical culture of the practice. You’ll be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering excellent care and supporting the ongoing development of those around you.

This is an excellent opportunity for a vet with a keen interest in orthopaedics and equine dentistry, while also enjoying the diversity of ambulatory equine practice.

Your workload will include both routine and emergency ambulatory visits, including:

  • Lameness investigations
  • Poor performance work-ups
  • Routine and advanced dentistry
  • Vaccinations and preventative healthcare
  • Wound management
  • Colic investigations
  • Field surgery
  • General ambulatory medicine

We believe in providing genuine continuity of care, giving you the opportunity to follow your cases from initial assessment through diagnosis, treatment and ongoing management, allowing you to build strong relationships with both clients and their horses.

Why Join Fyrnwy Equine Group?

You’ll become part of a highly experienced and collaborative team of 18 equine veterinary surgeons working across our two fully integrated sites, supported by 11 nursing, technical and administrative colleagues.

Our clinical team includes:

Two Diploma holders and recognised European Specialists in Equine Medicine and Surgery.

RCVS Advanced Veterinary Practice certificate holders across a range of disciplines.

A dedicated nursing team including two qualified Equine Veterinary Nurses and two Student Veterinary Nurses.

An RCVS-approved Veterinary Nurse Training Practice committed to developing the next generation of equine professionals.

You’ll be fully supported by our well-equipped equine hospital and specialist clinicians, giving you access to advanced diagnostics, surgical facilities and collaborative case discussions while retaining clinical autonomy in your ambulatory work.
