Vet South East Mayes and Scrine Equine Veterinary Practice in Horsham on the Surrey/Sussex border is seeking an enthusiastic Equine Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly five-vet team. We value work-life balance and professional development within a supportive culture.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Equine Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly and supportive five-vet team, based on the Surrey/Sussex border.

We are a close-knit team, including certificate holders, and place a huge amount of value on work-life balance. We know how important it is to have a fulfilling life outside of veterinary work, and we strive to make this a genuine part of our practice culture.

The Practice

Mayes and Scrine Equine Veterinary Practice is a modern ambulatory equine practice with excellent clinic facilities, including a theatre where we can bring cases in for further investigation and work-ups, such as lameness investigations and more in-depth diagnostics.

We have strong relationships with visiting surgeons and referral hospitals and regularly undertake standing surgeries and general anaesthesia cases.

Rather than providing a long list of equipment, we would much rather tell you about how we use our facilities to provide excellent patient care and give our vets the opportunity to develop their clinical skills.

Our Team

We are a genuinely supportive team who enjoy working together and helping each other out.

We hold weekly clinical meetings and regular journal clubs with a social twist, and we actively encourage CPD. We are fully supportive of vets wishing to undertake certificates and will provide funding to help you achieve your goals.

We are open to applicants with a wide range of experience, from those earlier in their careers through to experienced equine clinicians. We would love to hear what you could bring to our team and what you would like to develop during your time with us.

There is plenty of scope for progression and growth within the practice.

Based on the Surrey/Sussex border near Horsham, the practice is ideally located for enjoying the best of both countryside and city life. Horsham is around 18 miles from Brighton, 21 miles from Guildford and 30 miles from central London, while Gatwick Airport is approximately 15 miles away, making both domestic and international travel straightforward. The area offers beautiful countryside and excellent riding on the doorstep, alongside easy access to the coast, the Surrey Hills and the South Downs.

With Horsham itself offering a great selection of shops, cafés, restaurants and pubs, it is an excellent place to live for anyone looking to combine a rewarding equine career with a fulfilling life outside of work.
