Job summary

Quantum Scholars in Wokingham is seeking an experienced EOTAS Tutor to deliver one-to-one Maths and Science tuition for learners accessing Education Otherwise Than At School.

You will adapt lessons to individual needs, support GCSE preparation where appropriate, and work in-person with SEND/SEMH learners, building confidence and independence while maintaining safeguarding standards.

Qualifications

• Strong subject knowledge in Maths and/or Science, with the ability to support secondary-aged learners.
• Experience delivering one-to-one tuition or personalised educational support.
• Experience working with children or young people with SEND/SEMH.
• Ability to adapt teaching approaches to individual academic, emotional and behavioural needs.
• Enhanced DBS check and right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

EOTAS Tutor – Maths & Science – Wokingham

Location: Wokingham, Berkshire

Working Arrangement: In-person

Quantum Scholars are looking for a supportive, patient and experienced EOTAS Tutor to provide personalised one-to-one tuition to young people in Wokingham who are accessing Education Otherwise Than At School (EOTAS) provision.

We are particularly interested in tutors with strong Maths and/or Science subject knowledge, who are confident supporting learners through the secondary curriculum and up to GCSE level where appropriate.

The successful tutor will be able to adapt their teaching to suit individual learning needs, abilities, interests and engagement levels. Alongside academic progress, the role will focus on helping young people build confidence, develop independence and re-engage positively with education.

Experience working with SEND and/or SEMH learners, particularly those who have struggled to access mainstream education, would be highly desirable.

This is an in-person tutoring role and is not online work.

The Role May Involve

• Providing personalised one-to-one tuition to young people accessing EOTAS provision.
• Supporting Maths and/or Science, depending on the tutor’s subject knowledge and experience.
• Supporting learners across the secondary curriculum and up to GCSE level where appropriate.

• Supporting young people who may have experienced barriers to mainstream education.
• Creating a calm, structured and supportive learning environment.
• Helping learners re-engage with education and develop motivation and independence.
• Adapting sessions according to the learner’s interests, strengths and individual needs.
• Monitoring progress and adapting tuition accordingly.Providing feedback to parents/carers and other professionals involved in the young person’s education.
• Building positive and trusting relationships with learners.
• Working collaboratively with families and wider support teams.
• Maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality.
• Following safeguarding procedures and promoting the welfare of the young person.

Essential Requirements

• Strong subject knowledge in Maths and/or Science, with the ability to support secondary-aged learners.
• Ability to support learning up to GCSE level in your relevant subject area.
• Experience working with children or young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs.
• Experience supporting learners who have struggled to access mainstream education is highly desirable.
• Experience delivering one-to-one tuition or personalised educational support.
• Ability to adapt teaching approaches to individual academic, emotional and behavioural needs.
