Job summary

Leonardo UK seeks an EO/IR Systems Engineer to contribute to the full lifecycle of advanced EO/IR technologies, from concept to field trials. You will model, test, verify and validate systems while mentoring junior engineers and improving engineering processes.

The role requires a degree in a relevant field, UK residency, and security clearance eligibility. A collaborative mindset and strong problem-solving skills are essential for success in a cross-functional team.

Qualifications

• Degree-level qualification in systems engineering, physics, or a related technical discipline.
• Must satisfy BPSS/NSV eligibility and have 5 years permanent UK residency.
• Strong numerical, analytic and problem-solving skills supporting systems thinking.
• Experience with integration, verification and validation of EO/IR systems.
• Familiarity with the engineering lifecycle.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to requirement capture and management, development, modelling, manufacture, test, validation and verification of EO/IR technologies and systems.
• Mentor early-career engineers in your team or across the business.
• Adopt and improve defined engineering processes governing systems engineering across the full lifecycle.
• Work with Integrated Project Teams and across the sector in AIT and V&V activities of EOIR equipment.
• Promote continual learning and act as a change agent for systems engineering.
• Plan and execute structured Verification and Validation activities demonstrating system behaviours via analysis, modelling, laboratory evaluation and field trials.
