Job summary

Uniting People is seeking an experienced Envoy API Engineer to join a major banking programme onsite in Glasgow. You will apply hands-on expertise with Envoy Proxy/Gateway, API security, and cloud-native tooling to deliver secure APIs.

The role requires strong RESTful API design, OpenAPI specification knowledge, and solid DevOps skills including CI/CD, Kubernetes, and Terraform. Banking/financial services experience is essential, with a 6-month contract and £425/day Inside IR35.

Envoy API Engineer

Location: Glasgow - 5 days per week onsite
Contract: 6 months
Rate: £425 per day
IR35: Inside IR35

We are looking for a skilled Envoy API Engineer to join a major banking programme based onsite in Glasgow.

The successful candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Envoy Proxy or Envoy Gateway, API security, cloud-native engineering and modern DevOps tooling.

Banking or financial services experience is essential.

Key Skills & Experience Required

• Strong programming experience in Golang and/or Java




• Practical, hands-on cloud-native engineering experience




• Professional experience with Envoy Proxy and/or Envoy Gateway




• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and the OpenAPI Specification (OAS)




• Hands-on experience implementing authentication and authorisation at API gateway level
