Job summary

Helsing GmbH in London is seeking an Environment Test Engineer to design, execute and analyze environmental stress tests across drone subsystems and GSE. As a generalist within the Environmental Cluster, you will apply mechanical, thermal and environmental qualification knowledge across hardware domains.

The role requires hands-on experience with vibration campaigns, thermal cycling, humidity and corrosion testing, altitude simulation and fatigue testing, with ITAR/EAR awareness essential to

Qualifications

• Environmental standards literacy as primary frameworks for test campaigns.
• Expert in physical instrumentation: strain gauges, accelerometers, thermocouples, pressure transducers and load cells.
• Solid understanding of structural mechanics, fatigue, vibration dynamics and shock response.
• Experience with thermal chambers, IR cameras and thermocouple mapping.
• Hands-on operation of vibration tables, shock rigs, thermal chambers, IP spray and salt-spray cabinets.
• Awareness of ITAR/EAR export controls for defense hardware data.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute vibration test campaigns on drone subsystems and GSE hardware.
• Perform thermal soak and cycling across the full temperature range for assigned subsystems.
• Execute humidity, salt spray and corrosion tests on enclosures, connectors and housings.
• Validate altitude effects with simulated low-pressure conditions.
• Run fatigue and endurance campaigns to characterize material and joint life.
• Deliberately map failure envelopes and validate safety margins.
• Ensure IP and ingress testing to confirm field survivability.
