Job summary

Helsing in London seeks an Environment Test Engineer to design, execute and analyse environmental campaigns across drone subsystems and GSE. You will work as a generalist within the Environmental Cluster, applying mechanical, thermal and environmental qualification.

The role requires hands-on testing with instrumentation expertise and ITAR/EAR controls. You will collaborate with Launch Systems and Ground Communication Systems to ensure coverage and safety margins across subsystems.

Qualifications

• Direct experience with environmental chamber operation, vibration testing and physical instrumentation is mandatory.
• Awareness of ITAR/EAR export control obligations when handling test data and reports.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute vibration test campaigns (sine sweep, random vibration, shock) on drone sub-systems and GSE hardware.
• Execute controlled thermal exposure tests across full operational temperature range.
• Perform humidity, salt spray and corrosion testing to assess field survivability of enclosures and connectors.
• Validate altitude simulation and low-pressure effects on components.
• Conduct fatigue and endurance campaigns to characterize material and joint performance.
• Deliberately map the failure envelope through boundary testing and assess safety margins.
