Job summary

Applus+ 3C Test, part of the Applus+ Laboratories division, seeks an Environmental Test Engineer to join on a stable basis at Silverstone. You will execute environmental tests, set up and monitor test systems, and prepare detailed reports while coordinating with project teams and customers.

Key qualifications include Mechanical Engineering degree (or equivalent) and UK work eligibility. A day shift (8.45am–5pm) is typical, with occasional coverage as needed; driving licence is preferred.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BEng/BSc) or similar.
• HNC/HND/NVQ Level 4 in Mechanical Engineering with relevant experience considered.
• Strong command of written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Execute environmental testing per specifications, standards, and ISO17025/UKAS requirements.
• Set-up, monitor, and control test systems and EUT equipment.
• Prepare accurate technical reports and maintain project documentation.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Laboratory Supervisors, and customers on progress and issues.
• Support calibration, commissioning and maintenance of lab equipment.
• Ensure health & safety compliance and 5S standards in the lab.

We are currently looking for an Environmental Test Engineer to join our team on a stable basis.

What you will do

• Execution of environmental testing in accordance with customer specifications, international standards, and ISO17025/UKAS quality requirements.
• Set-up, monitoring, and control of test systems, including instrumentation selection and verification of equipment under test (EUT).
• Preparation of accurate technical reports and maintenance of project documentation using automated systems and Microsoft Office tools.
• Coordination with Project Managers, Laboratory Supervisors, and customers to communicate project progress and resolve technical issues.
• Support in calibration, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment to ensure operational reliability.
• Compliance with Health & Safety regulations, laboratory housekeeping, and 5S standards while identifying and reporting procedural or equipment inconsistencies.

Key Requirements

• Eligibility to work in the UK
• Full UK driving licence or willingness to live locally for reliable commuting
• Availability to work on a day shift (8.45am to 5pm) with the ability to do mornings and evenings to cover staff when required

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BEng/BSc) or similar.
• HNC/HND/NVQ Level 4 in Mechanical Engineering with relevant experience also considered.
• Strong command of written and spoken English.

Preferred Experience

• Operating electrodynamic vibration systems and/or other Environmental Test Equipment.
• Experience with engineering workshop tools, fixture design and mechanical modifications.
