About The Role

The Workdry Group has seen enormous growth over recent years, and we’re now looking for someone whose passion for the environment and sustainability aligns with ours. We’re pleased to be adding an Environmental & Sustainability Manager to our friendly SHEQ team based in Middlesbrough, to help create, implement, and monitor our environmental activities for the business.

This is an exciting time to join us as we focus on ensuring we have the very best environmental and sustainability framework.

This role would be perfect for an experienced environmental manager with relevant experience in this field within a business setting.

We’re looking for someone who believes in the positive impact a company can make regarding environmental issues and sustainability initiatives, with a forward-thinking outlook for future opportunities.

As Environmental & Sustainability Manager, you’ll be responsible for:

• Developing and reviewing environmental management systems to continually improve the organization’s environmental impact.
• Leading sustainable procurement for all goods and services.
• Coordinating pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental health, conservation, and renewable energy efforts.
• Leading the implementation of environmental policies and practices.
• Ensuring compliance with environmental legislation and staying updated on UK, EU, and international regulations.
• Liaising with local authorities, public bodies, and relevant organizations.
• Auditing, analyzing, and reporting on environmental performance to internal teams, clients, and regulatory bodies.
• Investigating environmental spills and producing detailed reports with root cause analysis and preventive actions.
• Making a significant difference in our environmental impact!

Personal skills, behaviors & experience required:

• Proven experience managing an environmental function or similar field.
• Extensive knowledge of ISO14001 standards.
• Ability to promote awareness, influence stakeholders, and gain buy-in for environmental initiatives.
• Strong attention to detail for accurate data collection and environmental reporting.
• Commercial awareness and understanding of responsibilities towards major partners, with collaborative problem-solving skills.
• Ability to set sustainability targets, develop plans, and oversee their execution through effective project management.
• Previous team management experience is beneficial but not essential.
• A Diploma in environmental management or related qualification is advantageous.
• Membership of IEMA or CIWEM is beneficial.

Please note, a full UK driving license is required, as site visits are part of the role, which may include occasional overnight stays.
