Job summary

Matchtech Group is seeking an Environmental Manager to lead environmental and sustainability efforts across major construction and energy infrastructure projects. The role requires driving best practice, risk mitigation, and compliance with regulatory standards on site.

You will develop campaigns, manage consents and licenses, and report on sustainability metrics while collaborating with SHESQ functions and site teams. A strong Net Zero focus and communications skill are essential.

Qualifications

• Chartered membership of IEMA or equivalent environmental qualification.
• Understanding of practical environmental risk mitigation on major construction projects.
• Knowledge of waste management, water management, pollution prevention, statutory nuisance, contaminated land and ecological mitigation.
• Experience with environmental consents, licensing, Development Consent Orders and Biodiversity Net Gain.
• Strong understanding of Net Zero principles and sustainability strategies.
• Experience in carbon measurement, reporting and reducing emissions.
• Experience in environmental incident management and corrective action planning.
• Excellent communication, report-writing, analytical and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership on environmental and sustainability best practice in conjunction with SHESQ function.
• Ensure management controls so personnel understand their statutory environmental duties and responsibilities.
• Work with site management to ensure compliance with plans and legislation.
• Lead environmental incident investigations and recommend preventative actions.
• Review environmental data to identify trends, risks and improvements.
• Develop environmental campaigns, improvement plans and supporting documentation.
• Identify and manage environmental consents, licenses and exemptions for projects.
• Prepare reports, presentations, pre-qualification submissions, tenders and award entries.
