Environmental & Sustainability Advisor

The Role:

We have an opportunity for an Environmental & Sustainability Advisor to join our power division, to support the delivery of environmental excellence and promote innovation that delivers sustainable growth. As an Environmental & Sustainability Advisor, you will be providing advice across the design, construction and reinstatement phases of our projects, ensuring regulatory compliance and promoting the safeguarding of the environment. This varied role will put your excellent communication skills to great use, as you'll be collaborating with many colleagues, clients and statutory regulators.

Here are just some of the activities you'll be involved with

1. Undertake environmental assessments and produce plans in-line with the environmental management system.
2. Ensure work is carried out in accordance with legal requirements and provides protection to the environment.
3. Support the provision of accurate environmental data.
4. Undertake monitoring, analysing and reporting of environmental performance.
5. Carry out inspections and audits in-line with ISO 14001, permits and environmental legislation, ensuring any non-conformance and improvement recommendations are recorded and actioned.
6. Provide incident management support to operational teams, in addition to promoting environmental best practise.
7. Ensure incidents and near misses are reported, categorised and corrective actions are undertaken.

We would love to hear from you if you can demonstrate

1. A degree in an environmental discipline or relevant experience in an environmental role is essential.
2. A strong understanding of environmental legislation applicable to the civil engineering and utilities industries, along with some experience in managing environmental risks.
3. Experience in the construction sector, ideally utilities.
4. The ability to write comprehensive environmental plans and reports, as well as interpret data effectively, is also required.
5. Experience with environmental permits and regulators, including assisting with applications and ensuring onsite compliance.
6. Additionally, demonstrable experience in providing sound advice that mitigates risks and ensures compliance with legislation is highly valued.
7. A genuine passion for the environment, coupled with a commitment to seeking new innovations and improvements, is essential for this role.
8. A Full UK Driving Licence is also a requirement due to visiting various sites.
