Job description

We are seeking an experienced Environment & Sustainability Advisor to join the team in Borehamwood. You will play a key role in developing and implementing environmental strategies, policies, and initiatives to ensure compliance with regulations, minimise environmental impacts, and promote sustainability across our operations. This is an exciting opportunity for an environmentally conscious individual to contribute to our company's mission and make a positive impact on the environment.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain environmental management systems (EMS) to ensure compliance with relevant environmental legislation, regulations, and standards.
  • Conduct environmental audits, assessments, and inspections to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to environmental policies and procedures.
  • Provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders on environmental issues, best practices, and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, engineering, and health and safety, to integrate environmental considerations into business processes and decision-making.
  • Monitor and analyse environmental performance data, identify trends and opportunities for improvement, and prepare reports for management review.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies, external consultants, and third-party organisations on environmental permitting, reporting, and compliance matters.
  • Develop and deliver environmental training programs and awareness campaigns to educate employees and promote a culture of environmental sustainability.
  • Participate in environmental impact assessments (EIAs) and environmental management plans (EMPs) for new projects and developments.
  • Stay informed about emerging environmental trends, technologies, and regulations, and assess their potential impact on company operations.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of environmental sustainability goals, targets, and initiatives.
Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, or related field; relevant professional certifications preferred (e.g., IEMA, NEBOSH).
  • Proven experience working in environmental management, sustainability, or related field, preferably within the [industry/sector] sector.
  • Sound knowledge of environmental legislation, regulations, and best practices, with the ability to interpret and apply requirements effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to collect, analyse, and interpret environmental data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve environmental objectives.
  • Proficiency in environmental management software and tools is desirable.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to company sites and project locations as needed.
  • Commitment to promoting environmental sustainability and corporate social responsibility.
