Job description

About the role

To support and coordinate environmental sustainability performance across the N1N2 assets, helping project teams deliver compliant and sustainable construction activities.

The role provides practical site advice, assurance, reporting, training and continual improvement across Bromford Intermediate, Bromford East, Long Itchington Wood North and Long Itchington Wood South.

What you'll be doing

  • Manage N1N2 environmental risks and opportunities and confirm that identified
operational controls are implemented, monitored and effective.

  • Complete planned and unplanned site inspections across the four assets, assign
actions, record findings on the relevant project system and track actions through to
    close-out.

  • Review RAMS, work packages and construction methodologies for controls relating to
waste, COSHH, concrete washout, silt, refuelling, spill response, works near water,
dust, noise, working hours, ecology and sensitive receptors.

  • Monitor high-risk and changing activities, including dewatering, concrete works,
excavation, lifting, waste movement, out-of-hours works and works near water or
    ecological constraints.

  • Support applications for, and compliance with, environmental consents, licences and
permits, ensuring project teams understand conditions and interface responsibilities.

  • Coordinate monthly BBCL and BBV sustainability reporting, including the collection,
validation and retention of evidence for energy, fuel, water, waste, materials and
    responsible sourcing data.

  • Provide environmental input to SHELT, SELT, high-risk activity reviews and project
leadership discussions, highlighting current risks, incidents, performance, upcoming
    activities and assurance findings.

  • Investigate environmental incidents and near misses, support root-cause review,
communicate lessons learned and verify that corrective actions are effective.

Who we're looking for

  • Working knowledge of UK environmental legislation and construction-related
compliance requirements, including pollution prevention, waste duty of care, water
protection, nuisance, ecology and environmental incident management.

  • Experience of construction site inspections, environmental assurance, RAMS review,
incident investigation and advising operational teams on practical mitigation.

  • Ability to collect, validate, analyse and present environmental and sustainability
performance data, maintaining a clear supporting audit trail.

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to engage project
leadership, site teams, clients, specialists and supply-chain partners.

  • Ability to work across multiple active sites, prioritise emerging risks and provide timely,
proportionate advice in a changing construction environment.

  • A suitable environmental or sustainability qualification is preferred. Registered
Environmental Practitioner status, or progress towards an appropriate professional
    membership, is desirable.

  • A full UK driving licence is desirable due to regular travel between N1N2 sites, subject
to reasonable adjustments and practical travel arrangements.
