Environmental Enforcement Officer Team Manager

Wandsworth Borough Council

£15 per hour, working 50 hours per week Mon-Fri, Occasional Sat.

Waste Investigations Support & Enforcement (WISE) are a leading supplier working with many Local Authorities to address issues of littering and fly tipping within boroughs. Using advanced technology, industry experience, and knowledge of PACE and relevant legislation, WISE is a preferred supplier.

Main Purpose of the Role as Enforcement Team Manager:

You will patrol the borough in an intelligence-led manner, enforcing legislation by issuing on-the-spot Fixed Penalty Notices when necessary.

Responsibilities include:

• Acting as a Brand Ambassador for the local authority and WISE, serving as the first point of contact for clients.
• Patrolling the borough according to deployment strategies.
• Investigating complaints and documenting outcomes.
• Managing equipment sign-in and sign-out daily.
• Covering absences to ensure continuous service.
• Completing daily vehicle inspection forms before driving company vehicles.
• Engaging with the public regarding environmental crimes.
• Following WISE's Standard Operating Procedures when issuing Fixed Penalty Notices.
• Attending court and providing evidence as required.

Ideal Candidate:

• Excellent communication skills, resilient in demanding situations.
• Ability to use initiative and work well in a team.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Clear and concise writing skills.
• Physically fit for prolonged foot patrols.
• Successfully complete the Enviro Crime Induction Course and be signed off as competent for independent patrols.

This is a full-time contract, requiring 8-10 hours daily between 7 am and 7 pm, Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturday work, totaling 50 hours per week. The pay rate is £15 per hour. Benefits include 28 days' annual leave, including bank holidays.
