Environmental Support and Enforcement Team Manager

Job Details

Position: Environmental Enforcement Officer Team Manager

Employer: Wandsworth Borough Council

Pay Range: £15 per hour, working 50 hours per week, Mon-Fri, occasional Sat.

Main Purpose of the Role: You will patrol the borough, enforce legislation through issuing Fixed Penalty Notices, investigate complaints, and engage with the public on environmental crimes.

Responsibilities
  • Act as a Brand Ambassador for the local authority and WISE.
  • Patrol the borough according to deployment strategies.
  • Investigate complaints and document outcomes.
  • Manage team equipment and ensure coverage during absences.
  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections.
  • Educate the public on environmental offences.
  • Follow standard operating procedures when issuing penalties.
  • Attend court and give evidence when required.
Candidate Requirements
  • Excellent communication skills, resilient under demanding circumstances.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Physical fitness for outdoor patrols in all weather conditions.
  • Clear and concise writing skills.
  • Completion of Enviro Crime Induction Course and competency sign-off.
Contract Details

Full-time, 8-10 hours/day, Monday to Friday, occasional Saturday, 50 hours/week. Pay: £15/hour. 28 days’ annual leave including bank holidays.

Experience Needed
  • Customer service: 1 year (preferred)
  • Teamwork: 1 year (preferred)
  • Statement Taking: 1 year (preferred)
  • Investigations: 1 year (preferred)
  • Enforcement experience: 2 years (required)
