Job summary

Nuclear Restoration Services is seeking an Environmental Specialist to support the Land Quality Team at Dounreay. You will apply geo-environmental expertise in a nuclear decommissioning context, focusing on land quality management to ensure safety and regulatory confidence.

The role involves delivering complex datasets, reporting, and documentation, while liaising with stakeholders and potentially supervising staff.

Qualifications

• HND in an engineering or scientific discipline (or equivalent experience).
• Experience in contaminated land assessment and/or remediation.
• Proven ability to plan work, meet deadlines and develop technical solutions.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to meet security and physical capability requirements.

• Produce, interpret and report complex environmental data and technical assessments.
• Prepare, review and maintain land quality documentation, systems and annual reporting.

Job description

We are looking for an Environmental Specialist with experience in Geo-Environmental, Contaminated Land and/or Remediation disciplines to join our Site Services team and support the Land Quality Team’s vital work at Dounreay. This role offers a unique opportunity to apply your geo‑environmental expertise within a specialist area of the nuclear industry, contributing directly to safe decommissioning and long‑term environmental protection.

Working on complex, real‑world challenges, you will help strengthen how land quality is managed across the site, supporting improved safety outcomes, regulatory confidence and the future closure of a nationally important facility.

What Will I Be Doing
