Job summary

Campact Limited, part of the internationally recognised EGGER Group, is seeking an Environmental & Safety Engineer for our Hexham site in the UK. The role focuses on driving environmental performance, safety excellence and continual improvement within a COMAH-regulated manufacturing environment.

You will support the SMS-EMS, promote a positive safety culture, and collaborate with the Process Safety Engineer on hazard studies, audits and investigations.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organisational and planning abilities.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving capability.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office applications.
  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement and promoting a positive safety culture.

Responsibilities

  • Support the continual development and improvement of Campact's Safety and Environmental Management System.
  • Promote a positive safety culture and champion environmental best practice.
  • Lead environmental and energy improvement initiatives to support sustainability goals.
  • Support hazard studies, process safety activities and Management of Change projects alongside the Process Safety Engineer.
  • Investigate incidents and identify opportunities to prevent recurrence.
  • Deliver environmental and safety training to employees and contractors.
  • Conduct audits and support inspections by regulatory authorities.
  • Monitor and report environmental and safety performance, helping drive continuous improvement.

Campact Limited, part of the internationally recognised EGGER Group, is looking for an Environmental & Safety Engineer to help drive environmental performance, safety excellence and continuous improvement across our Hexham site.

Reporting directly to the Director of Campact and working closely with the Process Safety Engineer, you'll play a key role in supporting our Safety and Environmental Management System (SMS-EMS), promoting a positive safety culture and helping ensure compliance within a COMAH-regulated manufacturing environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineering professional who enjoys combining technical expertise with practical problem-solving and wants to make a tangible impact on site performance and sustainability.

What You'll Be Doing

What We're Looking For
Essential

  • Experience within a manufacturing, process engineering or COMAH-regulated environment.
  • Knowledge of environmental and health & safety management systems.
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Experience supporting audits, inspections and incident investigations.
  • Understanding of risk assessment, hazard identification and Management of Change processes.
  • Experience delivering training and presentations.
  • Project management experience.
