Job summary

Mott MacDonald Bentley is seeking an Environmental Specialist to join our environment team. The role is co‑located across the UK and supports a regional team combining design and operation staff.

You will identify environmental risks, develop mitigation strategies, and coordinate specialist inputs to ensure milestones are met with high standards. A driving licence and willingness to travel are required.

Qualifications

• Chartered with a relevant professional body or actively working towards chartership.
• Awareness of environmental disciplines and project risks in ecology, archaeology, drainage, geotechnical, contaminated land, landscape, or noise.
• Ability to coordinate environmental aspects through high planning, organisation and communication to ensure project outcomes.
• Experience advising on sustainability initiatives, including biodiversity net gain.
• Valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites.

Responsibilities

• Identify environmental risks across the project lifecycle, from definition to completion.
• Develop mitigation measures considering cost, time, compliance, safety and social impacts.
• Coordinate inputs from environmental specialists (ecology, archaeology, etc.) to meet milestones.
• Produce environmental deliverables at milestones (EIA screening, management plans, etc.).
• Prepare applications for environmental permits and consents.
• Lead liaison with environmental regulators.
• Engage with clients on environmental and consenting matters.
• Contribute to environmental improvement projects locally and regionally.
• Assist in the production and delivery of training.
