Job description

This exciting opportunity is within our Environmental Protection Team, responsible for delivering the Surface Water Outfall Programme (SWOP) and investigating polluted surface water outfalls affected by urban diffuse sources, mainly third-party misconnections.

Environmental Protection Advisors play a crucial role in SWOP, which partners with the Environment Agency and is part of the PIRP.

Details:
  • Base location: North London - Primary sites: Beckton (IG11 0AD), Deephams (N9 0BA), Maple Lodge (WD3 9SQ)
  • 36 Hours Per Week (Mon-Fri)
  • Full UK Driving License required due to travel across North London sites and occasional other locations.
Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate assigned SWOP projects, assist with outfall safari training and assessments
  • Encourage rectification of misconnections
  • Escalate cases to Local Authorities when necessary
  • Collaborate with regional network teams on PSWOs and sewer defect resolution
  • Engage with EA for project sign-offs and queries
  • Conduct contractor field audits for H&S and performance
  • Provide pollution mitigation advice as an Environmental Scientist and support other environmental matters
  • Manage the full ownership of the assigned EPT patch
Candidate Requirements:
  • Strong understanding of environmental sustainability and decision impacts
  • Proficiency with IT systems like GIS and O365
  • Hands-on environmental experience in field settings
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of drainage and sewerage systems (highly desirable)
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
  • Project coordination experience is highly desirable
  • Degree in Geography, Environmental Studies, or related field (desirable but not essential)

  • Salary from £32,000 to £35,000 depending on skills and experience
