About The Role

MWH Treatment is looking to strengthen their Enabling team with an Environmental Planner working in the Severn Trent Water and the Thames Regions. You will be an important part of the project development providing a link between feasibility, design and the construction teams ensuring a smooth progression of the project, from scoping document to site start.

Purpose of role
  • To provide advice to the project team at design and planning stage, including identifying environmental consenting requirements and associated studies / surveys, reports and assessments.
  • To assist in the identification of EIA/town planning requirements and coordinate the delivery of planning applications.
  • To assist the project team in providing front end advice on consenting process/timescales to inform the construction programme.
  • To provide environmental project management to ensure the timely completion environmental deliverables to Client expectations.
Key responsibilities
  • Consultation with designers and project managers to understand project scope and advise on environmental consenting requirements.
  • Assist with the identification and coordination of EIA/town planning requirements.
  • Coordinate the delivery of project level design 3rd Party / Environmental Risk Reviews and identify planning and environmental scopes of work.
  • Input into project costs.
  • Consult with Client Environmental Planners/Planning consultants to coordinate the production of information/documentation required for EIA Screening and planning applications, as directed by the client.
  • Provide support to meetings with the client, statutory consultees and third parties (as required and directed by the client).
  • Coordinate with designers/project managers on environmental matters in order to confirm design solutions.
  • Coordinate GIS support to assist with the production of Environmental Constraints Maps, as required.
  • Identify the requirements for Environmental Permitting (EPR) support and liaise with the project team for the engagement of specialists to support EPR requirements.
  • Assist the project team with communications with relevant Local Planning Authorities and or statutory consultees as necessary and instructed by the Client.
  • Consultation with Environmental Regulators, as required.
  • Co‑ordinate the compilation of necessary documentation required for environmental consents which may include: EA consents, Flood Risk Activity Permits and Ordinary Watercourse Consents; Hedgerow Removal Notices; PRoW Diversions; Applications for works to protected trees; Notices for intended works to trees in conservation areas.
  • Assist with the delivery of biodiversity targets, as stipulated by the Client.

  • Ability to define goals and plan to deliver them.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Desirable relevant CSCS Card.
  • Qualification in environmental, town planning or related discipline.
  • Project management from an environmental perspective.
