Fantastic Opportunity: Environmental Officer
We are excited to be recruiting on behalf of aleading organization for the role of Environmental Officer, based at their headoffice in Ilkeston, Derbyshire. This is a full-time, permanent positionoffering the chance to effectively manage and coordinate environmentalactivities both at the company and on client sites. Reporting to the companyDirectors, you will ensure that all environmental targets and activities areachieved in a timely manner.
As an Environmental Officer, you will providecrucial support to the contracts and construction team by producing anddelivering Environmental Plans to ensure full compliance with contracts. Youwill support the improvement of the company’s Quality, Safety, andEnvironmental culture by maintaining and enhancing the UKAS accredited ISO14001 Environmental Management Systems. This role involves close collaborationwith the management team, clients, and project stakeholders to achieve contractaims, develop processes, and implement good compliance management practices.
Key Responsibilities
- 1. Train and develop the team regarding the Integrated Management System(IMS) and legislative requirements.
- 2. Manage and maintain an audit regime for statutory and environmentalcompliance.
- 3. Ensure all staff are aware of and comply with environmental systems ofwork, and provide sufficient training.
- 4. Produce and deliver Environmental Plans, monitoring these to supportoperational objectives.
- 5. Liaise with all levels of personnel and relevant external agencies onenvironmental matters to facilitate site improvements.
- 6. Work with Directors and the Contracts Team to foster a positiveenvironmental culture within the company.
- 7. Lead in the verification of legal compliance.
- 8. Produce and deliver environmental calendar events, ensuring consistencyand continuous improvement.
- 9. Continuously monitor and audit environmental systems and procedures forall sites, updating and revising as necessary.
- 10. Manage the Audit Programme to monitor compliance and maintain externalaccreditation requirements.
- 11. Mentor managers in the IMS System to maintain compliance, identifytrends, and encourage performance improvements.
- 12. Support the business with complex/high-risk environmental issues throughadvice and coaching.
- 13. Assist with environmental consents and permits applications andnotifications.
- 14. Assist with the production of Risk Assessments and Method Statements(RAMS) for all work activities.
- 15. Provide detailed monthly reports to inform management about shapingenvironmental strategy, policy, and product development.
- 16. Support and encourage positive employee communication processes,building constructive working relationships and leading or supporting meetingsas required.
Requirements
Experience:
- IEMA Foundation Certificate in EnvironmentalManagement.
- 3-10 years of experience in the field.
- Excellent understanding of the gas and oilindustry (preferred).
- Qualification/Experience with CDM 2015Regulations.
- Experience in a complex, commercial,multi-divisional organization.
- Solid and up-to-date knowledge of practicalenvironmental principles and legislation.
- Experience with ISO 14001 audits.
- In-depth knowledge of statutory compliance.
- Detailed understanding of EnvironmentalManagement systems.
- Solid understanding of construction andproject-related safety aspects.
- Ability to deal with people at all levels.
