Job summary

Essity in the UK seeks an Environmental Manager to strengthen environmental excellence at the Oakenholt site. You will implement the Environmental Strategy, lead regulatory compliance and drive continuous improvement across water, waste and emissions.

You’ll partner with Safety, Quality, and site operations to deliver RESH objectives and manage external audits. You will oversee reporting, permit compliance, and environmental systems, while acting as Radiation Protection Supervisor for site

Qualifications

• Experience in environmental management in industrial settings.
• Solid knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance requirements.
• Experience with ISO 14001 and auditing processes.

Environmental ManagerWe are looking for an Environmental Manager to play a key role in strengthening environmental excellence and sustainability performance at our manufacturing operation in Oakenholt.In this position, you will support the implementation of Essity's Environmental Strategy and RESH Framework, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations while driving continuous improvement and sustainability initiatives.About the RoleAs Environmental Manager, you’ll lead the day-to-day environmental management of the site while identifying and delivering opportunities for continuous improvement. As part of Team SQE, you’ll work closely with Safety and Quality, providing cover where required, and collaborate with Site Services, Logistics and Operations.What You Will DoAs Environmental Manager, you’ll lead environmental compliance across the site, ensuring legal, permitting and ISO 14001 requirements are met. You’ll oversee environmental reporting, monitoring, waste management, incident investigation and key management systems, including Ecolabel, FSC/PEFC, EUDR and M Certs.You’ll also manage the site reservoir and radiation management system, acting as Radiation Protection Supervisor, while supporting GHG, ESOS and site improvement activities. As the environmental lead for site projects and a member of the Oakenholt Lead Team, you’ll work closely with colleagues across the site, North West Operations and the European RESH team, as well as maintaining strong relationships with key external stakeholders such as NRW.Who You AreProven experience in environmental management, environmental engineering, or environmental sciences, gained within an industrial or manufacturing environmentStrong knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance requirementsExpertise in environmental management areas including water and wastewater, waste management, air emissions, environmental reporting, incident prevention, and responseExperience working with environmental management systems, environmental certifications, and auditing processes, including leading internal and external auditsKnowledge of RESH tools, preferably Gensuite, 3E Protect, and GMS, and strong Excel skillsStrong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skillsAbility to think systematically, drive change and translate strategy into practical implementationGoal-oriented mindset with a strong sense of ownership and commitmentWorking knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 would be advantageousUniversity degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or a related field is advantageousWhat We Can Offer YouOur purpose, Breaking Barriers to Well-being, provides meaning to everything we do.
