Job summary

Mane is recruiting an Environmental Manager to support the Energy Team on the SSE ASTI Framework in Alness, Scotland. You will provide environmental leadership, ensure compliance with environmental plans, and drive sustainability initiatives across a major energy infrastructure program.

You will lead incident investigations, monitor performance data, and collaborate with site managers to embed Net Zero principles and best practice across projects.

Qualifications

• Experience in environmental risk management on major construction or infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of waste management, water management, pollution prevention and ecological mitigation.
• Experience with environmental consents, licensing, DCOs and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG).

Responsibilities

• Provide environmental and sustainability leadership, promoting best practice with SHESQ.
• Ensure personnel understand statutory environmental duties and responsibilities.
• Work with site management to ensure compliance with environmental plans.
• Lead and support environmental incident investigations, identify root causes and preventive actions.
• Monitor and analyse environmental performance data and identify improvement opportunities.
• Develop environmental campaigns and improvement plans with senior operations leadership.

Mane is recruiting an Environmental Manager to support the Energy Team on the SSE ASTI Framework in Alness, Scotland.

We’re looking for an experienced Environmental Manager with a strong background in environmental compliance, sustainability, and major construction projects.

This is an excellent opportunity to take a lead role in driving environmental best practice, managing environmental risks, and supporting sustainability initiatives across a major energy infrastructure framework.

The Role – Key Responsibilities

• Provide environmental and sustainability leadership, promoting best practice in collaboration with the SHESQ function.
• Ensure effective management controls are in place so that personnel understand their statutory environmental duties and responsibilities.
• Work closely with site management teams to ensure compliance with environmental and sustainability plans.
• Lead and support environmental incident investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Monitor and analyse environmental and sustainability performance data, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Develop and implement environmental campaigns and improvement plans in collaboration with the Operations Director and SHES Director.

About You

• Chartered IEMA status.
• Experience in practical environmental risk management on major construction or infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of waste management, water management, pollution prevention, statutory nuisance, contaminated land, and ecological mitigation.
• Experience with environmental consents, licensing, Development Consent Orders (DCOs), and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG).
• A solid understanding of Net Zero principles and sustainability best practice.
• Experience in carbon measurement, reporting, and implementing initiatives to reduce emissions and improve efficiency.
