Job description

Environmental Health & Safety Advisor - Birmingham

AA Euro are currently looking for an EHS Advisor to join a Civil Engineering contractor working across multiple sites in the Birmingham/Coventry area.

EHS Advisor Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Promote the positive behaviour culture in line with company procedures.
  2. Be responsible to the HSEQ Lead when necessary.
  3. Assist the HSEQ Lead in the reviewing and development of the Company HSEQ Procedures to ensure continual improvement.
  4. Support and advise all employees with regards to best practice regarding HSEQ.
  5. Appreciate the responsibility allocated to all individuals within the company operative and management structure.
  6. Encourage Ownership of all employees in the HSEQ Procedures of the Company.
  7. Assist with the identification of potential hazards on new contracts before commencement and liaise with Contractors and Site Managers.
  8. Assist and advise on the formulation of HSEQ Management Plans, Method Statements, Risk, Noise and Manual Handling Assessments.
  9. Assist Site Managers and/or General Forepersons carry out weekly site inspections to ensure that early safe methods of working and environmental good practice are in operation and that all Regulations and Company Policy is being observed.
  10. Maintain records of all injuries and near miss incidents sustained during company operations.
  11. Assist with training of all employees and assist the HSEQ Lead in developing and maintaining a company Health, Safety and Environmental training programme.
  12. Attend Company HSEQ Meetings when requested.
  13. Assist in the preparation of a Quarterly HSEQ report for their defined area detailing incidents, dangerous occurrences, close calls, enforcing authority visits, training and environmental compliance.
  14. Ensure that all allocated sites are visited at least every 7 days.
  15. Assist in the maintenance of liaison with all enforcing authorities and professional bodies.
  16. Promote within the company an understanding that incident prevention and damage control are an integral part of business and operational efficiency.
  17. Attend meetings/seminars with Senior Management, Site Management outside agencies as required where Health, Safety and Environmental is a topic.
  18. Maintain continued professional development and training regarding new legislative requirements, good practice, developing technology and measures required to ensure compliance with current HSEQ standards.
EHS Advisor Basic Requirements:
  1. Hold a UK driving licence.
  2. Have basic knowledge and understanding of civil works in construction environment.
  3. Have a valid CSCS card.
  4. NEBOSH General (desirable).
  5. IOSH membership (desirable).
