Job summary

Venn Group is recruiting an Environmental Health Officer for the South West on an interim basis. The role focuses on using discretionary and statutory powers to maintain and improve environmental quality and safety for residents, workers and visitors.

You will assist the Environmental Health and Licensing Manager in delivering regulatory duties. The position involves investigating complaints about commercial premises, performing inspections and enforcement actions, and supporting broader public

Qualifications

• BSC/Diploma in Environmental Health required.
• EHRB Certificate of Registration required.
• Experience in general Environmental Health enforcement desirable.

Responsibilities

• Investigate complaints and service requests for commercial premises; conduct inspections, audits and sampling to ensure compliance.
• Undertake enforcement action, including statutory notices, evidence gathering, monitoring remedial works and attending court proceedings as required.
• Support wider Environmental Health functions through consultations, reporting, statutory schemes, public health campaigns and out-of-hours duties.

Environmental Health Officer – South West - £45/hour (Interim)

MAIN PURPOSE

Using discretionary and statutory powers, to work with all sectors of the community and with internal and external partners, to maintain and improve the quality and safety of the environment for those people who live in, work in or visit the City.

To assist the Environmental Health and Licensing Manager in providing a regulatory service and carrying out the Council's statutory duties

The role

You will be responsible for:

• Investigate complaints and service requests relating to commercial premises, carrying out inspections, audits and sampling to ensure compliance with relevant legislation
• Undertake enforcement action, including statutory notices, evidence gathering, monitoring remedial works and attending court proceedings where required
• Support wider Environmental Health functions through consultations, reporting, statutory schemes, public health campaigns, stakeholder meetings, training and out-of-hours duties

About you / Requirements

• BSC/Diploma in Environmental Health and EHRB Certificate of Registration
• Practice experience in general Environmental Health enforcement
• Experience of: dealing with complaints/enquiries, maintaining record systems and statutory enforcement procedures and interviewing under caution and facilitating the completion of statements
