Job summary

Opus People Solutions Limited in Milton Keynes is seeking an Environmental Health Manager to lead a Local Authority Environmental Health service. Hybrid working (3 days on-site) and a 37-hour week with a 4-week initial contract and potential extension.

You will oversee Food Safety, Public Protection, Environmental Protection, Noise & Nuisance, Air Quality, Public Health, Workplace Health & Safety and Primary Authority, and manage a team of 5–6 direct reports within a wider service.

Qualifications

• Qualified Environmental Health Officer with post-qualification experience.
• Experience leading Environmental Health/Regulatory Services within a Local Authority.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage managers.
• Strong knowledge of EH disciplines including Food Safety, Environmental Health, Health & Safety, Public Health and Air Quality.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Environmental Health service across Food Safety, Public Protection, Environmental Protection, Noise & Nuisance, Air Quality, Public Health, Workplace Health & Safety and Primary Authority functions.
• Directly supervise 5–6 direct reports within a wider service of ~30 staff.
• Provide leadership on statutory compliance, enforcement, investigations and regulatory decision‑making.
• Collaborate with senior leadership, stakeholders and partners to ensure effective service delivery.
• Attend council offices and service locations across Milton Keynes as required.
• Report to senior leadership as the council's lead Environmental Health professional.
