Biffa Waste Services is recruiting for an Environmental & Gas Operative to cover Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridge. You will monitor landfill sites, interpret data and balance gas fields to maximise power generation, reporting in line with site permits.

The role involves 42 hours per week with on-call duties, occasional travel to multiple sites, and strong adherence to health and safety. Full training and PPE are provided, with a company vehicle for business and personal use.

Responsabilidades

• Undertake environmental monitoring and data interpretation on landfill sites.
• Carry out gas field monitoring, balancing, and maintenance.

• Collaborate with landfill operational colleagues.
• Supervise and manage contractors on relevant areas.
• Collect and prepare data to monitor performance and identify improvements.
• Provide out-of-hours emergency assistance for gas generation issues.
• Perform other duties as required by the company.

Help us make a real difference as an Environmental & Gas Operative.

This role will cover Norfolk, Suffolk & Cambridge.

A quick look at the role.

To undertake environmental monitoring of various landfill sites, data interpretation and reporting in accordance with the site permit as well as gas field balancing, maintenance and gas compound management.

• Monday to Friday working pattern, with on call rota of 1 week in 5
• £30 on call allowance, plus time and a half overtime if called out
• Covering the south region
• 42 hours per week as standard, with regular overtime available
• Autonomy to manage your own diary and workload.
• Company vehicle provided, with personal use available

Your core responsibilities.

• Undertake environmental monitoring, data interpretation and reporting in accordance with the site permit and Biffa instructions
• Undertake gas field monitoring, balancing and maintenance
• Manage the landfill gas compound to ensure that power generation is maximised
• Undertake all duties in accordance with Health and Safety policies, guidance notes and training
• Work closely with and collaborate with landfill operational colleagues
• Supervise and manage contractors that work on specific areas relating to this role
• Collect, understand, collate and prepare data (for generator and environmental performance) as required to monitor the overall business performance, identify areas for improvement and implement these in collaboration with Management.
• Out of hours emergency assistance for gas generation issues
• Carry out such reasonable tasks as might be required by the Company from time to time.

• Basic computer literacy.
• Able to travel, may be asked to stay away from home on rare occasions.
• Driving licence - Driving is a large part of the role, you will sometimes be required to drive to more than one site in a day.
• Happy to lone work – Some of our closed sites are unattended.
• Expected to work in all weathers – A large part of the role is working outside.
