Job summary

Biffa is seeking an Environmental & Gas Operative to monitor environmental conditions across Midlands landfill sites and balance gas field operations. The role includes data interpretation, reporting, and ensuring compliance with site permits.

You will manage gas compounds, maximise power generation, and work closely with operational colleagues. The role involves on-call duties and potential overtime, with home-working flexibility and a company 4x4 benefit.

Qualifications

• Experience in environmental monitoring and reporting.
• Ability to interpret data and prepare reports.
• Knowledge of site permit requirements and safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Undertake environmental monitoring, data interpretation and reporting in accordance with the site permit and Biffa instructions.
• Undertake gas field monitoring, balancing and maintenance.
• Manage the landfill gas compound to maximise power generation.
• Carry out duties in line with Health and Safety policies and training.
• Collaborate with landfill operations colleagues.
• Supervise and manage contractors on related areas.
• Collect and prepare data to monitor business performance and implement improvements with management.
• Provide out-of-hours emergency support for gas generation issues.
• Carry out other reasonable tasks as required.
