Boeing Defence UK (BDUK) develops Environmental Cases and provides Environmental Management advice to the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) for fixed wing and vertical lift sustainment and acquisition contracts, ensuring compliance with environmental legislation applicable to defence systems, following the UK MoD Project Oriented Environmental Management System (POEMS).

The Role

We are seeking an Environmental Engineer to join our growing Boeing Defence UK (BDUK) Environmental Engineering team. BDUK Environmental Engineers lead various engineering activities to ensure compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements related to Boeing Products, Systems, and Services, and advise managers on environmental risks.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for early career or established engineers to gain experience across multiple environmental disciplines while developing technical skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with integrating Environmental Management considerations into the design and development of Boeing Products, Systems, and Services.
• Support the development and implementation of Environmental Management strategies for each project or programme, resulting in a comprehensive Environmental Case.
• Collaborate with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) teams to support the BDUK Environmental Management System and ensure compliance with UK environmental legislation.
• Work with the Boeing Sustainability Team to promote sustainability in UK programmes and enhance recognition of UK programmes in sustainability initiatives.
• Coordinate with Boeing, customer, and supplier technical teams to ensure evidence supports the Environmental Management strategy. Represent Boeing at conferences, seminars, and workshops.
• Advise senior engineers and managers on legislative environmental requirements.

Skills and Qualifications

• Strong analytical skills, well-organized, with attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying technical information effectively.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset.
• Experience in Environmental Management.
• Commitment to continuous improvement.
• Ability to pass BPSS clearance.
• Familiarity with Environmental Management Systems such as Defence Standard 00-051, ISO 14001, and POEMS is desirable.
