Job summary

Ashford Borough Council is looking for an Enforcement Officer to tackle environmental crime, anti-social behaviour, and public realm issues across the borough. You will provide a visible uniformed presence, gather evidence, prepare prosecution files, and work with partners to resolve community concerns.

You will patrol streets, estates and parks, enforce related legislation, attend court as needed, and contribute to joint enforcement operations. Hybrid working and a competitive package apply.

Qualifications

• Experience of investigating incidents and maintaining accurate records.
• Knowledge of environmental crime, anti-social behaviour or enforcement legislation.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Experience of working independently and as part of a team.
• Good IT skills and ability to produce high-quality written reports and statements.
• Willingness to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends.
• Hybrid working and commitment to staff wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Investigate fly tipping, gather evidence and prepare prosecution files.
• Conduct patrols and support joint enforcement operations.
• Assist residents and businesses to resolve concerns with partner agencies.
• Gather witness statements and attend court as a professional witness.
• Enforce dog control, stray dogs and dog fouling legislation.
• Identify environmental crime hotspots and support CCTV deployments.
• Maintain accurate case records and documentation.
