Job summary

Scottish Power Transmissions is seeking Environmental Advisors for long-term contracts based at Cambuslang with hybrid working. You will support the Environmental Manager and project teams to deliver and improve the EMS, providing specialist guidance on environmental controls during construction of energy projects.

Candidates should have experience in ISO 14001, environmental auditing, and liaising with regulators, with a degree in an environmental discipline and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Educated to a degree level in a relevant environmental discipline is essential.
• In-depth knowledge of current and developing environmental legislation is essential.
• Strong influencing and consulting/ communication skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a confident speaker.
• Sound planning and analysis skills - anticipate problems and plan solutions.
• Experience of collaboration with contractors.
• Membership of Professional body relevant to this role is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Comply with Environmental Management System to preserve ISO 14001 accreditation.
• Provide support and advice to project teams to achieve compliance with environmental requirements.
• Sustain and improve Environmental Procedures related to construction activities.
• Provide proactive guidance on environmental controls and legislation for the project.
• Develop and implement methods to improve environmental performance.
• Develop an Environmental Management Plan for the project including findings and licences.
• Liaise with regulators and stakeholders throughout the project.
• Manage environmental monitoring and prepare reports for internal/external distribution.
• Support investigation and reporting of environmental incidents.
• Develop and deliver environmental training and awareness initiatives.
• Review Contractors’ environmental documentation for regulatory compliance.
