Job summary

Murphy invites applications for an Environmental Advisor to support regulatory compliance and environmental management across construction projects. The role involves coordinating permits, inspections, liaison with site teams and stakeholders, and delivering robust environmental reporting.

You will conduct audits, update datasets, and ensure biodiversity protections meet statutory and client requirements. A background in EMS/TBT training and strong analytical skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience carrying out site audits/inspections and producing environmental reports.
  • Experience implementing environmental controls to meet planning conditions.
  • Ability to lead investigations into environmental incidents.
  • Ability to train others on environmental management systems and processes (EMS, TBTs).
  • Some experience of waste management and KPI reporting.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical thinking abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Work with regulators to ensure that all permits, licences etc are in place prior to the start of works.
  • Support the day-to-day environmental management of works associated with construction activities.
  • Liaise with site teams, clients, stakeholders and the wider environmental team.
  • Conduct environmental inspections and audits.
  • Interpreting data and writing detailed reports.
  • Keeping up to date with the most recent changes in environmental law.
  • Creating waste management datasets.
  • Ensuring biodiversity recommendations are met on site and protected species are undisturbed.
  • Reviewing risk assessments, management plans, method statements and evidence relating to all proposed work activities.
  • Conducting toolbox talks or other environmental briefings to site personnel and sub-contractors.
  • Liaising with stakeholders and local authorities as required.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements and all relevant Company and Joint Venture policies and processes.

A day in the life of a Murphy Environmental Advisor
