Job summary

Helsing is seeking an Environment Test Engineer to design, execute and analyze environmental stress campaigns for drone sub-systems and GSE. You will work within the Environmental Cluster to validate survivability and performance under real-world stress, collaborating across specialist domains while maintaining a generalist backbone.

You will apply knowledge of environmental standards, instrumentation, and metrology, and operate test equipment to ensure robust hardware in defence contexts.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of environmental test campaign design and execution.
• Experience with physical instrumentation: strain gauges, accelerometers, thermocouples, pressure transducers, load cells.
• Understanding of structural mechanics, fatigue, vibration dynamics, and shock response.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute vibration test campaigns (sine sweep, random vibration, shock).
• Perform thermal soak and cycling across full operating temperature range.
• Conduct IP & ingress tests on drone enclosures and GSE hardware.
• Carry out humidity, salt spray and corrosion testing on connectors and housings.
• Validate component behaviour under altitude simulations and environmental conditions.
• Lead fatigue and endurance campaigns to assess life cycles of sub-systems.
• Map failure envelopes and validate safety margins across sub-systems.
