Job summary

HSE Recruitment Network seeks an experienced HSE Manager to lead a high risk site in Birmingham. You will drive a zero-harm culture, report to the Plant Director, and mentor a developing HSE advisor. The role requires hands-on leadership within a matrix structure and close collaboration with the European HSE Manager and the US parent.

Salary circa £65,000 with car allowance, pension, healthcare and 25 days holiday plus bank holidays. Core hours Mon-Fri 8.30–4.30, site-based role.

Qualifications

• This role requires proven leadership in an industrial manufacturing HSE environment.
• Experience mentoring and developing an advisor within HSE teams.
• Diploma in Health & Safety is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead health and safety across the Aston site and drive culture change.
• Report daily to the Plant Director and collaborate with European HSE Manager.
• Coordinate environmental, emergency management, CAPEX projects and fire risk strategies.
• Promote high standards of compliance across all site operations.

HSE Recruitment are working with a global manufacturing business who are seeking a HSE Manager to lead their site in Aston, Birmingham.

This is a demanding, high risk site, with high expectations, which will suit someone who thrives in a fast paced, challenging environment. You will be taking over from a long standing HSE Manager who has been an integral part of driving culture change in the last decade, through a zero harm agenda. They haven’t achieved this alone, there is visible health and safety leadership across the board, with all areas of the business taking accountability.

You have one direct report who shows great potential but is still early in their health and safety career, so needs nurturing and mentoring. No two days are the same here, whether it is dealing with environmental requirements, emergency management, ongoing CAPEX projects or fire risk preventions strategies.

Working within a matrix structure, you will demonstrate hands on leadership, focusing on driving high standards of health and safety compliance across the site, reporting day to day into the Plant Director. You will also work closely with a European HSE Manager as well as the American parent company.

What we are looking for :-

• We need someone confident, assertive, who will be tenacious and who will challenge behaviours and can deal with push back.
• Good under pressure and being held accountable.
• We are looking for an experienced HSE Manager with demonstratable leadership capabilities within an industrial manufacturing environment.
• Experience developing, nurturing and training an advisor
• Diploma level qualification in Health & Safety

This is a site based on with core hours Monday-Friday 8.30-4.30

Salaryand package- Circa £65,000 salary, £4940 car allowance, eligible for quarterly bonus, pension matched up to 8%, healthcare, dental and 25 days holiday + bank holidays
