Job description

Working for a Tier 1 contractor, supporting the delivery of major infrastructure and construction projects across the North of Scotland.

Your Location: Inverness / North of Scotland

Project Location: Inverness, with travel across multiple project sites in the region

Working pattern: Office and project-based, with regular travel across the North of Scotland

Salary: £70,000 - £75,000 basic + Car / Car allowance + Bonus + Package

The Resolute Group is working with a Tier 1 contractor to secure a Health and Safety/SHE/SHEQ Manager based in Inverness to support a portfolio of major projects across the North of Scotland.

This is a regional role rather than a single-site position. You will work across multiple live projects, supporting Project Directors, operational teams, site management, clients and supply chain partners to ensure the highest standards of Safety, Health and Environmental performance are maintained throughout project delivery.

The client is open to sector background. You could come from major civil engineering, construction, rail, highways, utilities, residential or other large-scale project environments. You do not need previous power or transmission experience.

The key requirement is that you are used to operating at a senior SHE/SHEQ level on large projects, ideally within a Tier 1 or major contractor environment, and are comfortable managing priorities across a geographical region and multiple sites.

Your duties will include:

  • Lead SHE Performance: Provide professional Safety, Health and Environmental leadership across a portfolio of major projects.
  • Support Multiple Sites: Work closely with operational and project teams across multiple live locations to ensure consistent SHE standards throughout the region.
  • Drive Safety Culture: Promote strong behavioural safety standards and ensure project teams take ownership of safe working practices.
  • Maintain Compliance: Ensure projects comply with current health, safety and environmental legislation, company procedures and client requirements.
  • Lead Investigations: Support and lead accident, incident and near-miss investigations, identifying root causes and ensuring lessons learned are implemented.
  • Monitor Performance: Produce SHE reports, analyse performance data and identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Manage Stakeholders: Build strong relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers and wider project stakeholders.
  • Support Bids: Provide SHE input into tenders, bids and prequalification submissions.
  • Develop the Team: Mentor and support less-experienced SHE professionals, and contribute to broader business improvement initiatives.

This role is suitable for SHE/SHEQ professionals with a wide range of major-project backgrounds. The emphasis is less on the specific sector and more on the scale, complexity and breadth of the projects you have supported.

Relevant backgrounds could include:

  • Heavy Civil Engineering
  • Major Construction
  • Rail
  • Highways
  • Utilities
  • Power / Energy
  • Nuclear
  • Major Building Projects
Qualifications / Experience
  • IOSH qualification or equivalent professional Safety, Health and Environmental qualification.
  • Strong SHE / Health & Safety experience within a major contractor or large-project environment.
  • Experience supporting large and complex construction or civil engineering projects.
  • Comfortable working across a geographical region and supporting multiple project sites.
  • Strong knowledge of UK Safety, Health and Environmental legislation and industry best practice.
  • Experience carrying out accident and incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Previous experience leading, coordinating or mentoring SHE team members.
  • Strong client and stakeholder management skills.
  • Comfortable travelling across the North of Scotland as required.
