Playground Games is looking for a Hard-Surface Environment Artist to join our talented Forza Horizon team in Leamington Spa.

ABOUT US:

We are a premier first-party Xbox Game Studio passionate about making genre-defining, accessible, beautiful, and fun games. We are expanding our diverse team to continue advancing our BAFTA-winning Forza Horizon franchise.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As a Hard-Surface Environment Artist, you will work within the Playground Games Environment Art Team and with external partners to deliver immersive environments for Forza Horizon. You will be responsible for creating high-quality environment art, collaborating with stakeholders, and maintaining artistic standards.

This role is based in our state-of-the-art studio in Leamington Spa, with a hybrid work model. Relocation assistance is available if required.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

• Collaborate with Leads, Directors, and stakeholders to create visually stunning environments that meet gameplay needs.
• Author game-ready buildings and props, setting artistic benchmarks and workflows.
• Guide external vendors to ensure assets meet quality, technical, and artistic standards.
• Refine assets using 3Ds Max, Adobe Substance Suite, and other DCC software, integrating them into the engine.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

• Hard-surface modelling skills in 3Ds Max, Maya, or Blender; ZBrush experience is desirable.
• Exceptional skills in creating photorealistic textures in Adobe Substance 3D Painter.
• Experience with Adobe Substance 3D Designer is preferred.
• Strong understanding of real-world references.
• Outstanding prop creation skills for real-time game engines.
• A portfolio demonstrating structural assets like buildings is desirable.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
• Passion for the artistic and technical vision of Forza Horizon.
• Experience in optimizing assets for game performance is preferred.
• Knowledge of photogrammetry and color workflows is a plus.
• Ability to manage tasks, meet deadlines, and proactively resolve issues.
